Seamless Design With a 5mm Edge

Instead of being set behind the cover glass, the iMac display is set right up against it. By using an advanced process called full lamination, the gap between the LCD panel and the glass is eliminated so that every image looks as if it is right with you in person.
Full lamination has a second major benefit, eliminating the reflection of light off the LCD panel and off the back of the display’s cover glass. But an extra effort was added to reduce reflection off the front of the glass without compromising colour quality. Instead of applying an anti-reflective coating to the glass in a conventional way, a process used on smaller surfaces like camera lenses and on the helmets of fighter pilots was adapted; plasma deposition involves coating the glass with precise and thin layers of silicon dioxide and niobium pentoxide measured in atoms to give an astoundingly low reflection with vibrant, accurate colours.
